What's Changed

Common to both Azure API for FHIR and Azure Health Data Services

  • Handle bulk data access 2.0 by @apurvabhaleMS in https://github.com/microsoft/fhir-server/pull/5388: This PR improves Bulk Export (Bulk Data Access 2.0) cancellation behavior by introducing a CancelRequested flag on the orchestrator/group export job. This enables consistent cancel semantics even when the orchestrator job has already Completed or Failed, and aligns job retrieval behavior when cancellation is requested.
  • Fixes .well-known/smart-configuration, and update test app by @feordin in https://github.com/microsoft/fhir-server/pull/5407: This updates the .well-known/smart-configuration endpoint to use the same token and auth endpoint generation that we were using in the capability statement. Code is now shared via interface and registered module for both areas of the code.

  • f46f8e03d1b9123e7596ffa1c2efc9a6a63d5c92 Remove temporary "truncation 128" logic (#5319): Token search behavior update: On 2 March 2026, we’ll update the Azure FHIR service so that token values longer than 128 characters are no longer truncated during indexing.

If your workspace is affected, you may notice changes in the number of resources returned for token-based queries, along with improved overall query performance. This update ensures more accurate search behavior and strengthens service reliability. An Azure service notification was sent to affected managed service accounts with more details.
