Who are we?

Cohere is the leading security-first enterprise AI company. We build cutting-edge foundation AI models and end-to-end products that are designed to solve real-world business problems.

We’re training and deploying frontier models for enterprises who are building AI systems. We believe that our work is instrumental to the widespread adoption of AI and we are looking for folks that want to be part of that.

We obsess over what we build. Each one of us is responsible for contributing to increasing the capabilities of our models and the value they drive for our customers. Cohere is a team of researchers, engineers, designers, and more, who are all passionate about their craft.

We are a global technology company co-headquartered in Toronto and San Francisco, with key offices in London, New York City, Montreal, Seoul, Germany and Paris. Join us!

Position Overview

Our platform is expanding beyond a single product into a portfolio of new AI-powered product experiences. This is an early-stage, high-visibility program with multiple workstreams in flight. We're looking for an EPM to be the operating backbone of this program. You'll report into our Product Engineering function. This is not a delivery coordination role; it's a program architecture role. You'll build the structure, rhythms, and visibility mechanisms that let multiple product teams and their cross-functional partners execute with clarity.

As a Technical Program Manager, you will:

  • Own cross-team program coordination, tracking progress, dependencies, and risks across all workstreams and their functional components (Product, Design, Engineering, Finance, Revenue) simultaneously
  • Drive the executive operating cadence, synthesising status into clear signal and surfacing risks before they become blockers
  • Build the program infrastructure from scratch: roadmapping templates, status reporting, milestone tracking, and cross-team dependency mapping, across a program that is nascent and evolving
  • Coordinate shared resources (particularly MLE and PD capacity) across teams, identifying scheduling conflicts and driving prioritisation decisions with the relevant leads
  • Support each team lead in standing up their weekly team cadence and holding the standard for how progress is communicated upward
  • Operate across function and build credibility and influence with stakeholders who don't report into your org.

You may be a good fit if you:

  • 4+ years as an Engineering or Technical Program Manager, with at least some of that time spent at a startup or high-growth company where you built programs rather than inherited them
  • Demonstrated experience running multiple simultaneous workstreams. You can hold a complex picture in your head, spot cascading risks early, and keep several parallel programs moving without losing the thread
  • Strong executive communication: you know how to distil messy, multi-team status into crisp, decision-ready updates for senior leadership, and you know when to escalate versus resolve
  • Fluency with AI/ML product development
  • A builder's instinct: comfortable in ambiguous, low-structure environments where you're creating the process, not following it, and pragmatic enough to ship something imperfect rather than wait for perfect
  • Cross-functional influence without authority: you've worked in roles where you had to align Finance, GTM, and engineering leads who all had different priorities, and you know how to move people without a mandate
  • Experience working with or alongside technical leads: you can have a credible conversation about technical dependencies and constraints without needing things translated.

Bonus experience

  • Building OKR or roadmapping systems from scratch in a scaling org
  • Prior work inside an AI or LLM product company.

If some of the above doesn’t line up perfectly with your experience, we still encourage you to apply!

We value and celebrate diversity and strive to create an inclusive work environment for all. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and are committed to providing equal opportunities.
