About the role
We are seeking a Product Finance, Inference Capacity Lead to join our Finance team at Anthropic. In this role, you will be a key partner to our product teams, engineering leaders, and go-to-market teams, providing financial expertise and guidance to support strategic decision-making. As we continue to grow, you will play a crucial role in analyzing financial data, building detailed financial models, and delivering insights to drive informed business decisions across our inference infrastructure—one of the biggest line items on our P&L.
This role will work closely with senior Compute, Product, and GTM stakeholders, and collaborating with other members of the finance organization to align product and inference strategies with broader financial considerations. You'll be passionate about optimizing and driving clarity into the impact that inference capacity has on our growth potential, while creating and scaling novel unit economic metrics for the business to operate by. Key responsibilities
Provide expert guidance, recommendations, and influence to product, engineering, and go-to-market stakeholders on financial strategies, investments, and resource allocation decisions, leveraging an in-depth understanding of the company's financials
Partner cross-functionally with senior engineering leaders and technical teams to drive detailed financial modeling and analysis, building sophisticated models to optimize inference infrastructure costs and performance
Lead the creation and scaling of novel unit economic metrics for the business, including LTV, contribution margin, and other key performance indicators that enable data-driven decision-making
Drive optimization initiatives and provide clarity into inference infrastructure costs, working to maximize efficiency of one of our largest P&L line items
Partner cross-functionally to drive analysis, build financial models, and recommend business decisions across a variety of areas, such as pricing and packaging, business expansion, and defining new unit economic frameworks
Prepare and deliver clear, concise, and insightful financial reports, analyses, and forecasts, highlighting key trends, risks, and opportunities to facilitate informed decision-making to stakeholders and executives
Collaborate with other members of Finance & Strategy and accounting counterparts, helping to align product and inference strategies with broader financial considerations
Establish and implement reporting dashboards and scorecards to track key operational and financial metrics
Minimum qualifications
Exceptional analytical skills with an ability to synthesize data into compelling insights and develop / maintain complex and detailed financial operating models
Extraordinary problem-solving and critical thinking abilities to navigate complex financial challenges
Comfort working cross-functionally with senior engineering leaders, technical teams, and are adept at communicating complex financial information to both technical and non-finance audiences
Excitement about working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt well to change
Possess a bias towards action, strong work ethic, and have experience driving operational outcomes under tight timelines
Strong relationship building, business judgment, process management, and communication skills
Passion for optimizing and driving clarity into major cost centers and P&L line items
Are passionate about Anthropic's mission to build safe, transformative AI systems
Preferred qualifications
8+ years of experience across strategic finance, product finance, compute finance, investment banking, private equity, and growth equity
A combination of 5+ years in strategic finance, paired with several years prior across investment banking, private equity, or growth equity
Direct experience and strong interest in AI infrastructure
Background in AI, ML, or related technologies
Experience creating and scaling novel unit economic metrics and frameworks
Experience with consumption based and/or complex business models
The annual compensation range for this role is listed below.
For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role.
Annual Salary: $235,000 - $310,000 USD
Logistics
Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience
Required field of study: A field relevant to the role as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience
Minimum years of experience: Years of experience required will correlate with the internal job level requirements for the position
Location-based hybrid policy: Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. However, some roles may require more time in our offices.
