Release notes: Baseten Switch v0.8.0 (Beta)

• Connect Claude Desktop to Baseten models through its native third-party gateway mode.
• Set up supported Claude Desktop versions from Switch, with configuration backups and a manual setup guide as a fallback.
• Add, remove, and reorder models in Claude Desktop's model picker. A restart notice and graceful restart action make model-list updates clear.
• Find Claude Desktop in the sidebar and menu bar, refresh the Baseten catalog beside the model list, and see more readable model names.
• Keep Desktop's local gateway available while routing overrides for other clients are Off. Desktop provider errors do not fall back to Anthropic.

Automatic setup is verified for Claude Desktop 2.42304.0, 3.6556.1, and 3.6556.2. Other versions can use manual setup. Gateway mode uses Baseten billing and separate local chat history. Model capabilities vary, and switching models within an existing conversation can encounter provider-specific history requirements. Cowork compatibility is unverified.

Finish active requests, then run baseten-switch up to adopt the new CLI and Mac app. This can interrupt active sessions. Open Clients → Claude Desktop in Switch to get started.

The download includes the universal macOS CLI and Mac app for Apple Silicon and Intel. The app is ad-hoc signed and is not Apple-notarized. Homebrew remains the supported public installation channel.
