About the role
We are looking for a Director, Technical Revenue Accounting to join our Accounting Team. In this role, you will own the company’s most complex ASC 606 technical positions, lead the revenue accounting memo portfolio, and serve as the senior accounting decision-maker for new product revenue recognition treatments, non-standard deal structures, and partnership / marketplace go-to-market initiatives. You will partner directly with Deal Desk, Product, Legal, and Partnership leadership and set the technical revenue policy direction for the company! Responsibilities
Own the company’s ASC 606 technical accounting memo portfolio — authoring and reviewing position papers on the most complex and judgment-intensive revenue recognition scenarios, including the SSP study
Lead the technical revenue assessment for all new product offerings (NPI), serving as the accounting decision-maker on performance obligation identification, SSP evaluation, and contract modification frameworks, and providing authoritative guidance to Product, Pricing, and GTM cross-functional teams
Serve as the senior Revenue Accounting partner to Deal Desk, Sales, and Legal — structuring non-standard deal terms, and providing real-time revenue recognition guidance on the company’s largest and most strategic commercial arrangements
Provide technical accounting guidance on partnership and marketplace arrangements for cloud third-party channels, including principal-vs-agent determinations, and revenue-share / co-sell economics
Own the revenue contract review framework, including ASC 606 checklists, position papers, and escalation paths, ensuring revenue recognition compliance scales with deal volume
Lead technical research initiatives on emerging revenue recognition issues and present recommendations to the Controller
Own the company’s revenue recognition policy library and technical guidance documentation, with sign-off authority on policy updates
Translate complex technical accounting requirements into actionable business guidance for non-accounting stakeholders
Review revenue-related month end close journal entries and flux analysis
Build and maintain relationships with cross-functional stakeholders to drive effective collaboration
Drive process improvement and revenue system implementation projects, including scoping, design sign-off, and UAT ownership
You may be a good fit if you
Have 14+ years of progressive accounting experience, with extensive expertise in ASC 606 implementation and complex revenue recognition scenarios, including 4+ years in a technical revenue leadership or managerial role
Have a track record of authoring technical accounting memos on complex, judgment-intensive revenue arrangements
Have strong knowledge of ASC 606 with experience in performance obligation analysis, contract modification accounting, and variable consideration treatment
Ability to articulate complex accounting positions clearly, and proactively conduct technical accounting research to identify emerging revenue recognition challenges
Have hands-on experience with revenue recognition tools (e.g., Workday Financial Management, Zuora RevPro)
Have SQL proficiency for querying and analyzing large revenue and contract datasets
Have proven ability to lead cross-functional workstreams across Deal Desk, Product, and Partnership teams and drive results
Have a demonstrated ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments
Strong candidates may have
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required with demonstrated technical accounting expertise
Big 4 technical accounting / national office background combined with industry experience
Experience with technical accounting advisory work, including revenue recognition consulting or implementation experience
Experience with cloud marketplace, reseller, or channel partnership revenue arrangements
Experience working with consumption-based and subscription-based revenue models
Knowledge of AI/ML, SaaS and technology sector revenue recognition complexities
The annual compensation range for this role is listed below.
For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role.
Annual Salary: $230,000 - $300,000 USD

Location-based hybrid policy: Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. However, some roles may require more time in our offices.
