Python SDK 0.2.0rc1

Repository: inclusionAI/AKernel

Tag: v0.2.0rc1

Published: 2026-10-19T04:12:01Z

Prerelease: yes

Release notes: AKernel Python SDK 0.2.0rc1 is the first public release candidate for the ADX Environment backend. The public akernel_sdk.Sandbox API and ak CLI remain the entry points.

Changes

  • Use the ADX Environment API with the declared public dependency adx-environment==0.1.0rc1, replacing the legacy backend dependency in the published 0.1.6rc9 package.
  • Give the ADX SDK its own immutable package version and canonical repository/documentation links.
  • Validate all RC releases against develop with the prerelease flag enabled; stable releases remain restricted to main with the flag disabled. Tags must match the package version exactly.

Install

Python 3.10 or newer is required. Install the exact candidate from the public index:

python -m pip install --index-url https://pypi.org/simple "akernel-sdk==0.2.0rc1"
python -m pip check
ak --help

Choose a compatible ADX-based AKernel deployment and configure its SDK endpoints and token. For HTTPS, explicitly enable AKERNEL_VERIFY_TLS=true and configure SSL_CERT_FILE for a private CA; certificate and hostname verification remain part of acceptance.

Compatibility and acceptance

The existing release workflow validates the SDK and separately installs the wheel and source distribution with their declared public dependencies before PyPI publication through Trusted Publishing. Merge alone does not publish the package.

This SDK release does not deploy or upgrade a server image. Public-package acceptance against the Hong Kong test cluster remains tracked in #102; prior fixed-source SDK, standalone and ACK results retain their recorded scope. Additional shared-download, cross-node recovery, hardware and long-running scenarios are separate acceptance work.

Release tags and published distributions are immutable. Fixes use a new candidate version.
